Students impacted by Storm Éowyn power outages invited to the Happy Hub by Irish Red Cross

The Irish Red Cross will host a Happy Hub in Galway on Saturday 8 February for teenagers and exam-year students who have been dealing with power outages and limited internet access. The Happy Hub is a special space focused on wellbeing for young people.
- A range of positive mental health activities for those aged 12–17 years old including art and crafts, board games and wellbeing discussions.
- Hot food, snacks, refreshments, tea, and coffee provided.
- Personal devices (including laptops and mobile phones) can be charged.
- Junior and Leaving Certificate students who are preparing for upcoming mock exams will find a dedicated study space.
The Happy Hub by the Irish Red Cross is a welcoming space for young people who may be experiencing stress because of the storm damage and power outages. This is the third Happy Hub hosted by the Irish Red Cross in response to Storm Éoywn. Earlier Happy Hubs were held in Carrick On Shannon, Leitrim, and in Carrickmacross, Monaghan.
The Irish Red Cross is working in partnership with the National Emergency Coordination Group to provide welfare checks and wellbeing supports to those affected by Storm. The Irish Red Cross is a member of the world’s largest humanitarian organisation, and helps communities in Ireland and internationally to prepare, respond and recover from emergencies and disasters.
